General Info

Located at 1008 Montana Ave #1, Santa Monica, CA 90403, United States, The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica is the kind of sushi restaurant that quickly becomes a favorite once you experience it in person. The atmosphere feels relaxed yet refined, and from the moment you step inside, the energy of the dining room and the bar onsite gives the place a welcoming, lively vibe. Many diners come here for dinner, and it’s easy to see why-every detail, from the menu selection to the presentation of each dish, reflects a clear dedication to quality.

One of the first things that stands out when exploring the menu is the balance between classic sushi staples and more distinctive specialties. The Dry Aged Hamachi Yellowtail is a highlight that many guests talk about in their reviews. The aging process deepens the flavor of the fish, giving it a rich texture that feels both delicate and bold at the same time. It’s the kind of dish that immediately shows the kitchen’s attention to detail.

Equally memorable is the Salmon Sashimi, which arrives beautifully sliced and incredibly fresh. The clean flavor of the salmon pairs perfectly with a sip of Sake, making it a simple but satisfying combination that works well for both first-time visitors and regulars. For something with a little more intensity, the Tuna Hand Roll is another must-try. The balance between warm rice, crisp seaweed, and fresh tuna creates a bite that feels comforting yet elevated.

The menu doesn’t stop at traditional sushi offerings. The Steak Tartare adds an unexpected twist, offering a rich, savory option that complements the seafood-focused selections. It’s a great example of how the kitchen keeps the dining experience interesting while still staying true to the restaurant’s identity.

Beyond the food, the overall dining experience makes this location stand out among Santa Monica dining spots. The restaurant accepts reservations, which is helpful during busy dinner hours when tables fill quickly. Guests who drive will also appreciate the availability of paid street parking nearby, making the visit relatively convenient for a popular Montana Avenue location.

Another aspect worth noting is the inclusion of healthy options across the menu. Many dishes focus on fresh ingredients and clean flavors, so diners looking for lighter yet satisfying meals will find plenty to enjoy. Combined with the comfortable bar area and the welcoming dining room, the setting encourages guests to slow down, enjoy their meal, and explore a variety of dishes.

Spending an evening at The Brothers Sushi Santa Monica feels less like a quick stop for food and more like a complete dining experience. The thoughtful menu, carefully prepared dishes like the Dry Aged Hamachi Yellowtail and Tuna Hand Roll, and the easygoing yet polished atmosphere make it a place many people return to again and again when exploring restaurants in Santa Monica.

What customers say?

“ Our table of 5 ordered the omakaze experience which was wonderful! The servers were lovely and the food was so fresh, flavorful, and beautiful. It’s a treat $200 pp) but well worth it - we were completely full and satisfied. ”

“ authentic japan-standard sushi in LA. sushi snob here and its my second time back at Brothers Sushi Santa Monica. id always choose the Omakase lunch menu here. its good value at $100 per pax. i get a starter, 10 nigiris, salad and soup. every bite was more impressive than the last. fish was well aged, rice was warm and well seasoned with shari, no soy sauce or wasabi is provided because the sushi/nigiri gets seasoned by the chef before he serves it up - all the hallmarks of good sushi enjoyed in a relaxed and casual setting. its never busy at lunch. made a last minute booking (2hrs before on day of( and got seats immediately. also love that they have Orion (my fav japanese beer) on draft. always a joy dining at Brother’s Sushi. arigato gozaimasssssss ”

“ Upscale sushi restaurant. Friendly and attentive service. Our waitress recommended the miso sea bass wraps, which were delicious. We’ve been here three times and each experience has been a wonderful dinner. It’s pricey, but you get what you spend - high quality sushi with exceptional service in a serene Japanese ambiance. We recommend their plum wine - it’s sweet, enjoyable, and pungent in plum flavor and served chill. Our first time we did the Omakasi prefixed meal, which showcased unique sushi and dishes. It’s expensive. We went Nov2024, it was $200+ per person. We ended up ordering another roll of spicy tuna at the end of the courses. They were generous and gave me a dessert with a candle as we celebrated my birthday ◡̈ The second and third time, we ate Al la carte. As mentioned before, we recommend the miso sea bass wraps. The truffled Yama Imo Fries are worth ordering. Nigiri orders and sushi rolls can add up in price. Overall, The Brothers Sushi has been our go to spot to celebrate special occasions. ”

“ Brother's sushi is the best in all of LA! I've been to brothers many times now and can say that they have the best service, the best fish, the best Japanese dishes, and the best sushi in Los Angeles. They have an amazing friendly service and the food here is top notch for any occasion. I've been here with friends and for date nights. If you're looking for top tier sushi then you must go here. The Santa Monica location is our go-to location. I highly recommend it. Chef Mark is the best and our host Yuki always welcomes us with great hospitality. Thank you Brothers Sushi!! ”

“ I had wanted to try Brothers Sushi for awhile but never wanted to make the trek over the hill and within days (it seems like), 2 popped up on the westside. Last night, we tried the Omakase at the Brothers Sushi Santa Monica and loved it. The variety and the amount of the Omakase was perfect and the staff added a few items since we came at a busier time and our first course was a little late. The sake selection is great and the atmosphere phenomenal. The price was a bit higher than expected but the overall experience was worth it. ”

“ Best omakase experience! Will definitely go back again. Great quality of fish, presentation and service! 10/10 ”

“ I don't write Google reviews but I had to because this is the best establishment I've ever eaten at. The service was excellent. The staff was kind, checked on us just the right amount, and had baskets that sat beneath the table so purses didn't sit on the floor. The cut salmon sushi roll was fresh. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had in my life. The fries weren't crisp but the flavor made up for it. If I was from here, I would never shut up about this place. But since I'm not, a passionate Google review will have to do. ”

“ Brothers place teleported us back to our Japan trip with the decor, service, and food. We did the omakase at the bar and every course was amazing. You start with 3 beautifully plated appetizers, 10 sushi rounds, and fresh dessert. Worth every penny so put this place on your list for a special occasion! ”
